Step by step: making list
Making the construction helmet look more like a search and rescue helmet. I’ll start by cutting of the front beak, working round the sides removing the lips and then reviewing the back. Some search and rescue helmets have that lowered back part.
Spiders are configured of two main body parts, the abdomen and cephalothorax. I shall cut the hard hat into four sections, The front and back sections will represent the spiders two main body parts, making the back section of the hard hat bigger as it will represent the abdomen of the spider. The two side sections are the ear guards of the helmet and these are where the legs will protrude out from.
I will work on the helmet sections individually. Using milliput to add thickness and depth creating more pronounced curves and shapes that better suit the search and rescue aesthetic. I will sculpt a new beak and lips at the front and going round the cusp of the helmet making the two side sections symmetrical.
Once dried I will sand and file the edges and surfaces.
