In this last unit I will focus on one minor and one major project. For my minor I want to submit a replica display model or a bronze sculpture and for my major I want to submit a fit for purpose stop motion character.
IDEAS
Minor: Creature design from the Netflix series Love, Death + Robots - Carnivore
Display model
Stop motion character
Bronze sculpture
Image 1: Carnivore from Love, Death + Robots.
Sketches of Carnivore: This is a complicated design, definitely too ambitious for a first attempt at bronze casting. On the other hand It could make a good replica display model but I know it will take too long to sculpt and then there’s the issue of moulding & casting or photogrammetry not leaving me enough time for my major.
Major: Three character designs that could work for
Stop motion
Image 2: Possible stop motion character designs from Love, Death + Robots.
Their back ground story is post-apocalyptic where over time human technology has evolved to form artificial life forms. The character wearing the hat evolved from a line of surveillance equipment, the middle one from X-box play stations and the little orange guy evolved from baby monitors.
Sketches of each character: Where the top one will most likely be too quick and the middle one will take too long, I think for me the bottom one will fit the time we have.
First sketch of how the armature could work in comparison to the characters body.
Minor: Bronze cast of a Laputan robot
Bronze sculpture
The Laputan robot seems like it would be a match for a bronze casted sculpture. It has a basic appearance and easy shapes for sculpting, as well as the character being a metal robot, it fits the narrative. Furthermore their weight is bound to a single spot for eternity making them frozen in time and becoming a monument to what once was.
